Wireless Listening Centers for Castro Valley Kindergartners
Submitted by Carol Caploe of Castro Valley Elementary ( Itemized Budget )
The wireless listening centers will replace failing equipment that has been in service nearly 20 years. These items will be use daily by small, rotating groups of five students at a time.
Teachers have been purchasing and collecting listening center books and corresponding CD's or tape cassettes for many years. These rich collections, include fiction and non- fiction books. Students benefit as they follow along with the spoken words, turning pages when directed. They look forward to learning in this format at every opportunity, and it frees the teachers to focus on differentiated reading instruction with another small group during the same instructional minutes.
"CVE, as a Title I school, has 44% of students of low socio-economic status. Our three kindergarten classes, totaling 75 students, would benefit greatly from this updated technology."
